Hi Everyone,
Thanks to the 'path outage' there were only 4.7 million routes combinations worth evaluating - so super quick! Despite this there is still fair variation in the best route to take depending on your distance. I think the 'optimal' paths (climbing 1m equivalent to 10m distance) are closer to the mid-point of shortest/flattest on these hilly map. Hi Everyone,
The balance of points on offer in all directions has lead to some great "flipping" of the ideal route around the place - a great course! This weeks map was calibrated with a large length of Johnson St (according to mapmyrun.com). Please note that my Garmin read 7860m for the route my program is calulating shortest of 8496m and the route posted by Fly on the Wall (7.1km) as shortest 7423m. Despite the question mark over exact distance the routes are compared on the same scale so the shortest route should be correct.

2009 #18 - Boronia Park

Hi Everyone,

Despite this map having a clear loop track around the top it had a lot of options cutting through the west and 4 reasonable starting points - I wanted to check a lot of the options to make sure I captured the "double back" options. In the end I evaluated at least 1,147,071,884 routes. It took my computer just over 4 days to check the 3 costs (shortest, optimum and flattest) for each route. In contrast to Event #19 which took 45 mins (shortest only)!

Don't think the metrogaine is worth running - the 79 points will take ages!!
Looking forward to #20 which should run quickly :-)

Hi Everyone,
